Are you passionate about mental health and wellbeing, and looking for the chance to make a difference in your local community?

We are seeking to recruit several new members to our Board, along with a Chairperson. These are volunteer positions that will take up approximately 2-3 hours per month.

With the imminent appointment of a new full-time CEO, this is an incredibly exciting time to join our Board and positively influence the strategy and execution of mental health services across East Lothian, as well as steer our mission of fostering positive mental health for everyone.

The Roles

Board Member

As a board member, you’ll play a vital role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring we continue to meet the needs of East Lothian’s diverse community. You will be expected to add value and the benefit of your experience to help shape our efforts in providing compassionate, welcoming, and effective mental health support.

You’ll be required to attend monthly board meetings to discuss and shape the direction of the organisation and provide support to the Changes CEO.

Chairperson

With the support of the Board, the Chairperson will be responsible for driving strategy, mitigating risk, implementing effective governance and ensuring consistent and efficient operation of the Board. You will preside over each Board meeting, ensuring that all relevant matters are discussed, and actions taken.

You will work closely with the CEO to maintain the effective management of the organisation, and the execution of the Charity’s vision and strategic priorities.

Who We’re Looking For

Board members should be team players who value compassion, inclusivity, and community engagement. You should be passionate about mental health and wellbeing, with a genuine desire to make a lasting contribution to a vital cause.

The Chairperson will additionally require strong leadership and strategy skills, and the ability to effectively manage a diverse group of people. You should be able to inspire positive change whilst maintaining the governance required by funders and service users.

Previous experience on a Board or within a charity is not essential but would be beneficial. We are particularly (but not exclusively) looking for individuals from the following backgrounds:
