Fiwasade Onifade

I joined Changes in 2017 as a volunteer due to my interest in general mental health, something different from the bereavement counselling I was offering to clients at the time with Cruse. Being with Changes has been very rewarding for me, I enjoy the experience I have with different clients and the staff.

I originally worked in the field of Public Health for over 10 years in my home country of Nigeria with both in-school and out of school young people in a Charity I co-founded with my sister in Lagos. In 2001 we got trained as HIV/AIDS telephone counsellors by trainers from the Johns Hopkins University. My interest in Counselling started from there. I decided to come over to the UK and went into a Housing career for over 10 years. I am still partly in Housing, I work with homeless people who also struggle with addictions as a result of a trauma.

I did my certificate in Counselling studies in England in 2009, and completed my post graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2017.  I am also a qualified Counselling supervisor and offer supervision to both counselling students and qualified counsellors. I have great interest in therapeutic and healing work, how to help people to find their way back to who they are, be aligned and take part in their own unfoldment.
