Christine Knight, Chair of the Board

I am retired after a career in education and services for children. I have been a teacher of children with additional support needs, an education advisor and manager, and finally an inspector of schools and services to protect children. I joined Changes because I was impressed with the range of services on offer, and the positive impact on people’s lives. I enjoy working with the manager and staff team, and the Board who all share my commitment to Changes. My other interests in my retirement include yoga, knitting and spending time with my children and grandchildren, when I can.

Patsy Brown, Trustee

I joined the Changes Board as a Trustee in November 2019. Soon after retiring in 2014 from my career in nursing (latterly, rehabilitation services), I joined Changes as a volunteer walk leader, and then later helped with the beginners’ cycling sessions when they began. In addition to volunteering with Changes, I am a community- based volunteer English tutor with Edinburgh College helping a foreign student learn English. As a Changes volunteer, and as someone who has enjoyed and benefited from Changes’ activities and courses, I have seen how positive an effect the organisation has on the local community members who use the services. My other interests include being in the outdoors and meeting with friends and family.

Neil McKechnie, Trustee

I am currently a Regional Facilities Manager and a Member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management. My expertise lies in Operations, Planning, Customer Service and Staff Management with experience across all sectors including Retail, Catering, Visitor Attractions, Transport and Leisure. I have in the past worked as a manager at Edinburgh Zoo, ran my own event bar business and spent 10 years in Human Resources. I joined Changes as a Trustee in January 2020, they have a great team and feel it is delivering a very valuable service to the community.

Laura Hughes, Trustees

I have a varied background; from administration, project management, team supervision and process and policy improvement over a period of 20 years within the financial sector. I have been involved in befriending, peer support and community support for various charities. I’m currently a Person Centred trainee Counsellor in my final year and I’m looking to progress further in supporting people’s mental health and promoting mental health awareness. I joined Changes to give something back to their community and I feel they have such a huge positive impact on supporting local people and have a great team of kind, dedicated people. I have two teenage Sons, two Cocker Spaniels. I love sewing, art, anything creative really and being out in nature, especially by the sea. I enjoy also walking and jogging to keep fit.

Fiona Keightley, Trustee

As a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD) I am a qualified HR professional with over 20 years experience in various public sector organisations. I joined Changes as a Trustee in November 2019. Personally I feel Changes is a great organisation to be part of and when not doing Changes work I enjoy walking, yoga, am a keen amateur archaeologist

Dennis Rowe, Trustee

After a career in the NHS both in England and Scotland, finally as Head of Procurement for NHS Lothian I have now been retired for 10 years. I joined the Changes Board in 2016 and hopefully am able to bring my knowledge of the NHS and Procurement to the decision making of the Board. Changes is a great organisation that is able to assist those with mental health difficulties in East Lothian. I am also a volunteer as a Walk Leader in Dunbar and also for Nordic walks and buddy walks. Since retiring my wife and I have been able to travel a lot to see our 10 grandchildren in England, Australia and the USA and I have an avid interest in sport especially football, Aussie rules and NFL.

Sarah Carlile, Trustee

I have worked as a mental health practitioner since 2005 and a Counsellor since 2012. I have always been fascinated by people, their stories and have tried to make a difference. I joined Changes Board in March 2020 as I believe in the value of what they do as a community-based service, particularly their peer-led and recovery approach. I love being in nature, craft, walking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
